Drumroll, Please

A Tactile Experience with Light, Line, and Loudness

An immersive multi-sensory art installation that transforms audiences into co-creators.

Debuting at The Medium, Springdale, AR on November 7, 2025, Drumroll, Please! invites visitors into a vibrant fusion of sight, sound, and touch. Created by artist Jenn Baugh and in collaboration with her husband, Justin Baugh, this interactive experience challenges the traditional boundaries of art by encouraging participants to move beyond observation and step into the role of collaborator.

Phase One: Percussive Light & Sound Interaction

Visitors are welcomed to strike bass, tom, and snare drums equipped with RGB audio-responsive lighting. Each drumbeat triggers a shift in color and transforms the illuminated drawing it faces—creating a living dialogue between rhythm, light, and visual art. For those sensitive to sound, noise-cancelling headphones will be available, allowing participants to feel the vibration of the drums without the auditory intensity.

Phase Two: Kinetic Frames

In the second phase, guests engage with a series of drawings mounted on lazy Susan mechanisms. Each spin—gentle, subtle, or bold—sets the artwork in motion. Backlit with glowing colors, the drawings cast dynamic shadows and reflections, offering endlessly shifting perspectives and inviting playful exploration.

An Invitation to Play and Create

At its core, Drumroll, Please! is an invitation to curiosity, personal expression, and collaboration. By weaving together light, sound, and touch, the installation transforms the gallery into a space of shared creativity—where every interaction becomes part of the artwork itself.

This project is supported by the Creative Exchange Fund (CXF) at The Medium, a program that provides artists, creatives, and cultural organizers with funding and free space to experiment and take bold risks. Learn more at themedium.art/cxf..
